For today's woodworker, the simple and adaptable router has become an essential tool for profiling, shaping and joining wood. Router Boss is a new joinery machine that securely supports both the router and the wood and allows you to work in a creative way that offers control without being constrained by the tooling. You can manage a cut in any dimension and precisely cut virtually every joint in the book including mortises, tenons, through and blind dovetails, box joints, raised panels, sliding dovetails and many, many more. With Router Boss you select the bit and you control the cut. For the furniture maker, there is no better or more versatile tool for creating strong, beautiful and long lasting wood joints.
With the wood securely held on a sliding bar there is no risk of the wood being snatched out of your hand. You can 'power feed' the wood through the cutter or, alternatively, you can position variable angle rails to guide the router across the wood either perpendicular or at an angle, with full visibility, starting and stopping the cut at any point. In addition, Router Boss's optional plunge assist bars work with the depthing features of your plunge router to provide a quick and accurate depth of cut system. Router Boss is a precise milling machine for wood.
Our optional work-holding accessories attach to the sliding bar and allow you to hold the wood in almost limitless ways with repetitive positioning of multiple pieces. For decorative profiles and grooves the machine can substitute for a router table. Router Boss is the ultimate jig.
Woodworkers have a saying: "measure twice and cut once". Accuracy of measurement in positioning cuts is the key to tight-fitting joints and Router Boss does not disappoint. As a starting point, unlike most jigs and router tables, you can see the cut as it is being made. You can thus cut to a scribed line as in hand tool woodworking, but with machine control. Another method, and the standard way to position cuts on Router Boss, is to use scales on face of machine that work with cursors on sliding bar. A third way is to replace the scales with story sticks: reusable white boards on which you place marks that you then use to position your cuts. A fourth way is to use stops in the machine's t-tracks, guide rails and base plate to position cuts. A fifth way is to use the built-in laser crosshair that projects onto wood and defines the center of cut. Finally, you can use optional electronic digital scales with LCD displays for the highest level of precision.
We feel confident in saying that Router Boss offers more options, capacity, joint variations, and precision control than any other routing accessory or joinery machine on the market. Designed as a bench or wall-mounted workstation, it hangs on 2 aluminum cleats. For your safety, it has both front and rear dust collection with standard shop vac hose connections. It comes with an illustrated manual with setup instructions and joint making examples. It will work with most plunge routers and almost any router bit.
To get most joinery done you need only a Router Boss, plunge router and bits. We recommend DeWalt 625 if you are buying a new router. For convenience and safety, equip your router with our new XL quick change chuck. Router bits with long shanks, such as our Craftsman Gallery cutters, are best with Router Boss. We also offer a range of accessories that provide additional features and work holding capabilities that can save you time and effort. Our electronic digital scale option provides exact positioning in cutting dovetails, box joints, sliding dovetails and other joints. The scale was designed for Router Boss and features an easy to read display in millimeters or both decimal and fractional inch at same time. It integrates with machine, operates over full travel of sliding bar and never needs to be removed when changing operations. Select digital option when ordering your machine and we will ship it pre-installed.
We provide after-sales support, a one year warranty on all parts and guarantee your satisfaction with a no quibble refund policy.
